September 22, 2014
As the traditional annual promises of an Indian summer fade to ghostly whispers, the sun is setting on another fantastically hectic season of festivals and fairs for ticketscript UK [as I wrote this, a 20-minute downpour of biblical proportions took place] .
From May through to September our team have spent their weekends traversing the country’s plains, hills and valleys to support some of our clients’ biggest events. Birds, trucks, wine and planes, all soundtracked with a truly eclectic mix of tunes – here are some of the highlights.
Elderflower Fields – May
We’ve worked with Elderflower Fields annually since its debut in 2012. Based in Sussex, it’s a festival truly made for families, putting the kids first and building a universally appealing event around that. With a new home this year, there were a few logistical challenges but there’s no doubt these guys will overcome these and move onwards and upwards for 2015.
Coloursfest – May
May this year saw Colours, Scotland’s leading dance music promoter since 1989, take to Glasgow for the mammoth Coloursfest. Comprising six arenas and over fifty prestigious artists performing, Coloursfest lived up to their promise of kicking off the summer with a mammoth night of EDM.
Deershed Festival 5 – July
With a similar founding philosophy as Elderflower, but based up in North Yorkshire, is Deershed Festival, with 2014 marking its fifth instalment. DSF5 was the best yet, and plans are already shaping up for DSF6 with early bird tickets going on sale in October – a client after our own heart with organisation like that!
High Definition – July
High Definition Festival is one of the UK’s biggest electro and dance events and this year over 15,000 music lovers congregated for the occasion in Tunbridge Wells. The artists showcased for 2014 included DJ Carl Cox, Marco Carola, Shy FX, Mistajam and Jay Orbison.
Read our interview with Toby, ticketscript’s UK Entrance Manager, for the inside scoop on how it went down this year.
Brighton Pride – August
Last year’s Brighton Pride marked the 10 millionth ticket sold via ticketscript, and they were right there with us at another milestone this year – our biggest ever ticket box office installation and a host of ticketscript bods on site to help it run smoothly. It was another huge success which we were immensely proud to be a part of.
Birdfair – August
Referred to as “The Birdwatcher’s Glastonbury”, Birdfair has been going 25 years. Complete with big name brand sponsors and celebrity guests like Chris Packham and Bill Oddie, the event is now a serious affair and this year was a runaway success – we love seeing organisations like this innovating with our solution.
Truckfest – Six dates
In the three decades since its inception, Truckfest has grown and grown. Tens of thousands of truck fanatics attend the series of six events covering the length and breadth of the UK. 2014 was the biggest yet – breaking all their records, and there’s every reason to expect a repeat of this repeat next year.
Tesco Wine Fairs – September onwards
Another country-spanning series of events, Tesco Wine Fairs kicked off in September with its London launch. A great way to explore that potentially daunting prospect of the wine industry – try hundreds of wines from more than 14 countries and get the low down from our wine experts.
Southport Airshow – September
For those not content with land-locked machines, there’s the likes of the airshows we work with. One of the UK’s biggest, the Southport Air Show, took place this weekend. With tens of thousands visiting over a weekend packed with flying programmes and activities on the beach, the team had a great time working on the event – a fitting way to wind down the summer season.

As ever, the summer has flown by in the blink of an eye and we’re now getting prepped for the same and more again next year.
Before that, of course, we’ve got halloween, bonfire night, Christmas and the bumper matter of New Year’s Eve to get working on.
Whatever kind of event you’re planning, see how we can make it as successful as all these. Get started creating an account with just a couple of clicks.
