Find the right communication with clients

Be it customers, a manager, suppliers or venue owners, always try to keep the communication friendly. They’re not in the same shoes as you and don’t always see things in the same light, so ask plenty of questions and give them as much information as possible to get your communication on the right level.

That being said, according to the New York Times best author, Tim Ferris, some customers aren’t always worth the stress. If after doing all your best they’re still unwilling to comply and giving you abuse, then it may be worth calling it a day. Trolls will be trolls.

Stop complaining

It’s safe to say negativity is never a good thing. If you’re finding that a bulk of your conversations involve bad mouthing something or someone, take a moment and pause. Listen to yourself and think about how to improve the situation instead. Suppliers not shown up? Artists cancelling? Think about what you can and could have done to improve the situation. Where there’s a will, there’s a way! Everything happens for a reason, so try and identify an opportunity or be happy because you’ve learnt something new.

Be innovative

Perhaps you’ve been in the industry for a long time and know exactly what works and what doesn’t. But if there’s one thing we’ve learnt in this day and age is that things are quickly evolving, and not just in the event industry. Listening to the opinions of young and fresh talent in your team could do your event wonders. It will definitely make happier employees and could even make your an event more of a success, taking some weight off your shoulders for your future events.

Rest your brain

Your mind’s probably thinking of a hundred different things you need to sort out and blocking them out isn’t going to be quite so simple. Even though we have way more distractions nowadays, we also have some great apps for meditating and achieving mindfulness. Breakthrough the mind clutter and give Headspace a go. Not only will the meditative practices in this app help you achieve better focus, but it will promote divergent thinking, meaning you’ll be finding more solutions to your problems and embracing a positive lifestyle!

If Headspace doesn’t really tickle your fancy, then that’s ok. Mindlessness has proven to be somewhat as important as mindfulness, so tune into these videos and let your mind wander.
