6 things you never knew about event ticketing

The thought of organising your first event can be intimidating – and that’s before you even start to think about ticketing. Fortunately at ticketscript, we know a thing or two about selling tickets. Here are 6 things you may not know about the industry today.

Vintage Fair Pass

1. If you’re not online, you’re nowhere

A whopping 83% of ticket purchasers prefer buying tickets online, and that includes almost 70% of the over 65s. In fact, nowadays only 3% of tickets are purchased in person.

2. Your website is everything

42% of people say a good online experience will encourage them to come back and spend again. On the other hand, 66% of people wouldn’t return after a bad online experience. Make sure you invest in your website, it’s just as important as the event itself.

3. Mobile is on the move

Over 1/3 of all online sales in the UK are done on smartphones and tablets and this number is only set to increase. Online services and mobile apps are a great way to drum up sales and tap – or swipe – into a bigger market.

4. Social media is king

71% of people are more likely to buy if referred through a friend on Facebook. In fact, every 2.6 shares on Facebook or Twitter sells another ticket. So don’t be a stranger, start getting your name – or more importantly, the name of your event – out there.

5. People love simple pricing

Stop press: it turns out that nobody likes being ripped off. 92% of people feel conned by extra charges when they buy a ticket. Single pricing keeps things straightforward for everyone involved.

6. They also love buying direct

41% of people prefer to buy direct, finding it a pain to be redirected to a third-party website. Perhaps surprisingly, 32% of people will actually lose trust in your event if they’re redirected.

At ticketscript, we offer a simple way to independently host direct ticket sales for any event, no matter what size.
