Part 1: 1, 2, 3 Periscope – the app that is moving fast and you should be using!

Everyone talks about Periscope and if you don’t know what it is yet, that’s OK. It can be challenging at times as there are so many tools and functionality to keep up with. But don’t panic, we sat down with Lorena Yera, a.k.a Skumeta, one of the pioneers and major influencer’s of Periscope to inform us of the new app and the impact that live streaming has on the relationships between customers and companies. Visibility, brand awareness, growing your community, and conversion … are just some of the advantages that await you if you get involved with Periscope! Over to Skumeta to take us through it…

You and your brand should all be on Periscope

The social media paradigm has changed. Users no longer want to be mere listeners of brands’ monologues, but to engage in conversations. They crave for human touch and  would like to see the faces behind those brands they follow. Live streaming platforms such as Periscope or Facebook Live, make this a reality. A new chance for companies to humanise their content and storytelling, which is likely to be more accepted coming from a recognisable peer. So the question remains, why isn’t every company already using Periscope?

Periscope is the fastest growing social platform

Periscope reached 10 million users in just 4 months. So far, it is the fastest growing social platform. Could it have been as successful if we didn’t have Facebook or Twitter? Maybe not. Apps like Bambuser, livestream, or ustream have existed for several years and have not had the same impact that Periscope has experienced with the aid of social media.

Get out of your comfort zone and lead this revolution

Going out of your comfort zone is difficult and can be a challenge for any brand that must pass a bureaucratic approval process each time they want to innovate or open a communication channel. On the other hand, not all brands can take the risk of investing human and financial resources in managing a new channel without data to support a minimum level of success. But it’s only those who are willing to take a risk that will lead the way as influencers and trendsetters. The rest will certainly follow. Which side do you want to be on?
