Interview with Anne van Emden, Sales Manager at ticketscript

The 29-year-old Anne van Emden is one of the ticketscript Sales Managers, before she worked at ticketscript she gained experience at another ticketing organisation. In the club and party scene she is better known as DJ Lina Ann. With her funky and groovy sets in clubs like Maassilo, North Sea Venue and the Ocean Diva she rocks the audience every time! ticketscript puts her under the microscope:

  • You’re a Sales Manager at ticketscript, what does that mean exactly?

I’m approaching new customers for ticketscript on daily basis. Like event organizers, event locations, museums, anything that can sell tickets online.

  • What do you like most about your job as a Sales Manager at ticketscript?

What I like most is the challenge to search for new opportunities, it helps that ticketscript sells itself as a proven ticketing tool. What also makes the job interesting is the personal contact with very different people.  The young and ambitious team at ticketscript makes working for this company fun.

  • What qualities should you should possess to be a successful Sales Manager?

You need to be creative, have a considerable portion of perseverance and you should be able to understand the wishes and needs of the customer. What also is important for certain phases of the sales process is patience. Last but not least, you need to be able to really talk!

  • How should event organisers promote their event according to you?

That depends on the type of event that is being organised, but when I look at the dance scene, you see that most of the promotion happens online. Visibility is very important.
Take a moment to understand how Google Adwords works. Make sure you know where your target group is located on social media and be active on that channel. A tip: link your facebook account to your twitter account, this way you are you active on both channels and it saves you a lot of time.

  • How far in advance should event organisers start with booking DJ’s?

Given the high popularity of the Dutch DJ’s, nationally and internationally, you’ll need to start with that at least six months in advance.

  • Which DJ gigs do you have planned for the future?

For October, I have the following gigs scheduled: October 5th I’m at Club Nightrooms in Dortmund (Germany), October 6th I’m booked in Panama in Amsterdam, October 19th I will be the supporting program for David Guetta at The Sand in Amsterdam, October 25th I’m booked at the Launch Party of video game Assassin’s Creed III and October 27th I will be performing at Club Rodenburg in Beesd.

  • What does your life look like in 10 years from now?

In 10 years I have my own business. I’m not quite sure about what kind of business exactly, but it will be something where I have to arrange things and where I can use my network. Furthermore, I also hope to have a nice husband, being a mom, and I do not rule out that I live abroad.
