Self-described as ‘tall, heavy and bearded’, we prefer ‘eager, confident and funny’. Having started mere months ago, Jonny Walker, Sales Manager at ticketscript UK has already received recognition within the business as one of the most promising newcomers of 2014. We caught up with Jonny and talked about everything from the expansion and growth of ticketscript to his special techniques.
What separates ticketscript from the rest?
“We’ve looked at ticketing from the viewpoint of the ticket buyer as opposed to the ticket seller, to improve the checkout process and to understand the behaviour of a ticket buyer. Coupled with knowing how event organisers want to sell tickets, they want to sell as much as possible and they want to make as much profit as possible. They want to stay ahead of the competition in terms of data, so ticketscript have filled all the gap.”
“ticketscript puts the organiser and promoter at the forefront of empowering businesses to take control of their own destiny, so instead of relying on third party agencies and outsourcing your reputation, we’re helping to manage everything in-house, keep everything as personal or corporate as you need it to be, give you all the data and control, and enable people to grow year-on-year by having sole ownership of your own data and building a resilient online community.”
Always on the phone, and keen to close a deal, Jonny loves educating organisers on ticketscript.
“I really enjoy the education part of the role. Speaking to event organisers who may be doing the same thing for years by using traditional ticketing agencies and explaining to them in a tactful way to capitalise on how people want to buy tickets now, then people come around to the idea, they’ll finally see that they were making mistakes.”
Mr. Walker takes a unique approach to sales.
“I utilise my Northern charm, set things out very simply, and talk in layman’s terms to people in order to build trust. I make sure that I’m not tying them up with jargon and just be clear because at the end of the day, they make a common-sense decision.”
2014 has seen ticketscript’s greater vision fast become the reality.
“It’s an exciting time for ticketscript, with the investment in May from FF&P and our recent ranking by Deloitte as one of the 50 fastest-growing technology companies in the UK, ticketscript is a great place to be part of.
