Our 10 biggest milestones

After 10 years of operating a business which started out as a small start-up in Amsterdam (2006), to expanding across Europe and the UK with 5 offices, you pick up a few milestones along the way. With this in mind, we thought we’d share 10 of those milestones which have been instrumental in achieving our title as Europe’s market leader in self-ticketing.

1. First ticket sold (2006)

What a monumental occasion! Our very first ticket sold to the well respected electronic music promoters, VOLTT. The event was a sellout and set the tone for our approach to ensuring promoters and event organisers sell more tickets. The beautiful thing about this is that they are still a client today.

2. First employee hired (2007)

After our founders, Frans Jonker and Ruben van den Heuvel established the business it was a very hands-on approach by the two childhood friends who set out to change the landscape of traditional ticketing. Eventually, they had to enlist some help and employed the first ticketscript employee, Duco Smit. 10 years later and Duco is still with us, leading the way and setting the tone for the ideal ticketscript employee – hard working, honest and passionate about events.

3. Beginning of international expansion (2009)

Our first venture out of the Netherlands was in Germany where we initially set up shop in Dusseldorf before settling in none other than the techno capital of the world, Berlin. Since establishing ourselves in the German market, we’ve gone on to work with some amazing clients including Stil vor Talent, Time Warp Deutschland and German Comic Con.

4. We enter the UK after successful acquisition (2010)

Our continued investment and development into ensuring our mobile offering is of the highest standard was cemented after the acquisition of a major mobile ticketing and marketing company in 2010. This acquisition was our introduction to the UK market where we set up our first London office which is today located in the tech hub commonly referred to as Silicon Roundabout. Soon after came our Spanish launch in everybody’s favourite city, Barcelona!

5.Facebook ticketshop (2011)

Social ticketing has become a much more prominent channel to sell tickets recently with more ticketing companies realising its potential as a revenue generator. We’re proud to say we were one of the very early adopters to implement Facebook as a sales channel for our clients and we’ve experienced some amazing results to date, with transactions via this channel up 34% YoY. You built your online community of social followers, so why not sell tickets directly through this channel? It’s a no-brainer for us at ticketscript.

6. Integration with Passbook (now named Wallet – 2012)

As a company with a huge focus on mobile ticketing, the integration with Apple’s Wallet was a natural move. We were the first ticketing provider in Europe to offer this integration which allowed ticket-buyers to easily store and find m-tickets on their iPhone.

7. The arrival of our entrance management solutions (2014)

The introduction of Europe’s first on-the-door sales app, ticketbox, and our free app, Flow, that turns any smartphone or tablet into a mobile scanner, completed the puzzle in providing our clients with a full-service ticket offering. From the initial sale of m- and e-tickets, a portable box office solution at the entrance, to minimising those queues directly from your personal device. Welcome to the first truly 360° ticketing solution.

8. Deloitte UK Technology Fast 50 (2014)

It was a privilege to be named one of the fastest growing tech companies in the UK which were based on revenue growth in the previous 5 years. Our focus is on growing the business of our clients and the more we succeed in this, the better off we are as a company. It’s that simple. So thank you to all of you that continue to run inspiring events and allow us to enjoy accolades along the way.

9. More than half a billion (Euros) in ticket sales (2015)

This is one we’re really proud of as it makes us happy our clients have gone on to sell such a significant volume and value of tickets since our launch. Let the good times roll!

10. New ticketshop launched (2016)

The new ticketshop has been designed with a mobile-first approach as we see the continued rise of mobile in e-commerce. Mobile conversion rates are up 125% compared to 2015 and our sleek, responsive and highly intuitive new ticketshop can be thanked for this. Since it’s launch, we have processed more than 1.4 million tickets and look forward to continuing this flurry of sales.

There you have it. A brief snapshot into some of our proudest milestones as a company. We will continue to develop and build the best features and products possible to ensure you, our clients, are equipped with the tools to remain in control of your ticketing and ultimately sell more tickets.
