The student market is leading the way in the adoption of mobile ticketing for events. The 18-25 age group are more likely to request a mobile ticket as their choice of ticket delivery when purchasing a ticket to an event, than any other age group according to ticketscript. This is primarily due to this demographic having a tendency to purchase tickets on the day of the event and a mobile ticket is more convenient than a printed e-ticket. The mobile ticket is delivered to their mobile phone which is scanned on entry to the event. Secondly, this age group are the largest users of mobile phones with 98% owning a mobile phone and nearly half owning a smart phone*.

A number of ticketscript’s clients that host student events are seeing the benefits of mobile ticketing. The Leadmill, a club venue in Sheffield that has regular club nights, gigs and special events has recently introduced mobile ticketing and they have found that customers that are buying tickets on the day of the event are choosing mobile tickets as the delivery method. Making last minute ticket purchasing more convenient for the ticket buyer. Ipso Facto runs student nights in Nottingham and the majority of their ticket sales are made on the day of the event. Andrew Smith, Ipso Facto said “Mobile ticketing makes it possible for our customers to purchase tickets right up to the start of our events instantly receiving their ticket to their mobile. More than 45% of our tickets are delivered as mobile tickets, so it’s great to be able to offer this option to our customers through ticketscript’s system.”

Frans Jonker Chief Executive Officer, ticketscript said “Mobile ticketing presents benefits to the venue in addition to increased ticket sales on the day of the event, mobile tickets also reduce the risk of fraud as tickets cannot be forwarded to other mobiles, what’s more it is a free service for the event organiser. There is also the opportunity for the venues to gather mobile numbers from their ticket buyers and use ticketscript’s bulk SMS marketing service to promote future events. All of this combined makes mobile ticketing the way forward for events and ticketscript’s platform makes this possible with mobile ticket delivery, a mobile ticketshop, mobile marketing and now the mobile event app.”

ticketscript is currently enabling over 30,000 events throughout Europe to use their plug-and-play ticketing tool to sell tickets and promote events. To find out more about mobile ticketing visit ticketscript.com
