ticketscript sees doubling in mobile ticket purchases

London, Wednesday 1st August 2012 – 10% of ticket buyers are using their mobile phones to visit event website ticketshops according to ticketscript, European leader in online and mobile ticketing. This compares to only 4% in 2011. Ticketscript is also seeing an increase in the number of mobile tickets delivered, up to 3.1% year to date in 2012, compared to 1.4% for the same period in 2011.

This growth in mobile ticketing that ticketscript is experiencing is in-line with global trends related to smart phone usage, where mobile Internet usage is predicted to overtake fixed Internet usage in the next year. Mobile commerce is also increasing in popularity across Europe, with 13.5 million users across the five leading European markets (France, Germany, Italy, Spain and the UK)*.

ticketscript introduced a mobile optimised ticketshop in January 2012, which means if a ticket buyer visits one of ticketscript’s customer’s websites and clicks on their tickets page, they will see a mobile friendly ticketshop. This makes it quicker and easier for ticket buyers to purchase tickets on their mobile phones. There is no longer the need to be at a desktop computer when tickets go on sale for an event, access to a mobile phone will suffice. Ticket buyers using mobile phones can also choose to have a mobile ticket delivered straight to their mobile phone. Mobile tickets are secure as they cannot be forwarded so there is no risk of fraud.

“ticketscript continues to be at the forefront of new technology developments in the ticketing industry, particularly from a mobile ticketing perspective. The percentage of mobile tickets delivered was 3.1% across Europe, but in the UK it was 8.9%, showing that this market is adopting mobile ticketing quicker than other European markets,” said Frans Jonker, Chief Executive Officer at ticketscript.
