Over the past few months, Facebook pages have started to adopt a new layout. It began rolling out as an option from March and is now available to every page. What does this mean for you and your events page?
Facebook have called the redesign a “streamlined look”, and essentially it’s made pages look more like their personal profile counterparts. If you haven’t yet updated voluntarily, it’s likely that Facebook will force you to do so pretty soon – so it’s good to be prepared.
It always seems like a bit of a pain when these things we’ve become so reliant on change, but we have to admit that this refresh does look a lot neater. Rather than the dual column feed of updates, the page is separated into a fixed set of components down the left (About, Photos, Videos, Apps, etc) and your newsfeed on the right.
Your Facebook ticketshop
The basics of what your page does and how you should use it remain the same, but there’s one bit of housekeeping you *may* need to take care of when it comes to selling through Facebook.
With the new layout, the tabs on your page may have been reshuffled, meaning your “Buy tickets” tab isn’t immediately visible to visitors on the page. Now, we obviously can’t have that, can we?
Here’s how to fix it:
If you have more than five tabs set on your page (that includes “Timeline” and “About” by default), you’ll get a “More” drop-down at the end. Open the drop-down menu and click on “Manage Tabs”. At this point, you’ll have the option to re-order your tabs, remove any unwanted and add new ones.
Find the “Buy tickets” tab and move it to either the first or second position under “About” (which cannot be moved). Then hit “Save” and you should be sorted – your ticketshop tab will be visible at the top of the page at all times!
That’s pretty much it – as for any other advice, keep striving for that same high quality, engaging content you always have. And of course, never miss the opportunity to include DIRECT LINKS to your ticketshop in your updates.
